Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 264 (VMM-264) “Black Knights”  is  based at MCAS New River, NC. The “Black Knights” were established on June 30, 1959, and have multiple missions including vertical replenishment and search and rescue. The Black Knights fly the MV-22B Osprey, manufactured by Bell-Boeing.
