History of HS-15 / HSC-15 Red Lions
Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron FIFTEEN (HS-15) was established on 29 October 1971 in NAS Lakehurst, NJ. Later HS-15 relocated to NAS Jacksonville, FL. On November 2012, HS-15 transitioned to the MH-60S Seahawk and re-designated HELSEACOMBATRON 15 (HSC-15) on NAS North Island, CA. Later HSC-15 disestablished and deactivated on March 31, 2017.
Helicopters have been a vital part our US Naval forces. With the introduction of helicopters the 101st Airborne division started deploying into battle mainly from helicopters as opposed to airplanes. An the helicopter patches are a representation of HU-1 squadron missions and deployments.
