May 15, 1957; Newport R.I. A Bell HUL-1 of HS-9 flies over shipping lanes in a Navy experiment. The helicopter, equipped with two “homing” torpedoes to track down enemy submarines, is guided to the target by radio and radar from the destroyer USS Mitscher, on which it is embarked.
