NACHLIN, HAROLD Oct. 25, 1918 to Oct. 24, 2010 Sikorsky field service legend, Harry Nachlin, passed away at his home in Pacific Beach, CA. He was 92 years old but never lost his enthusiasm for Sikorsky Aircraft. He started with them in 1943 and retired in 1977. In the 1950s during the early days of the Korean conflict he was known as “Korea’s Copter Doctor”. He was a mentor to many and worked side by side with both military and civilians in the Helicopter industry. Harry was also a founding member and trustee of the Naval Helicopter Association and the Naval Helicopter Historical Society. Harry was married to Dorris “Dodie” Nachlin who predeceased him in 2002. The surviving family members are: Dana Rullo of Fallbrook, David Rullo of Hanalei, HI, Mary Ann Porter of Pacific Beach. Grandchildren: Chelsea Rullo, Nicole Porter, Vanessa Porter, Holly Porter and nephew Jim Nachlin and niece Maggie Nachlin. Harry loved his Sikorsky days and friends and also loved his time spent riding his Quarter Horses with his wife. He had a special way with animals and there were always dogs and cats in the house as well as a few stray tortoises. He was an accomplished wood worker and furniture maker and crafted many special pieces for family and friends. There never was a nicer, kinder, more giving man who worked and lived a wonderful life. He will be truly missed. Services to be held Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Pacific Beach Chapel El Camino Memorial, 4710 Cass St. Pacific Beach, CA 92109.
