Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 263 (VMM-263) “Thunder Eagles”  is  based at MCAS New River, NC. The “Thunder Eagles” were established on June 16, 1952, and have multiple missions including vertical replenishment and search and rescue. The Thunder Eagles fly the MV-22B Osprey, manufactured by Bell-Boeing.
