CDR ROBERT SCOTT MURPHY USN-RET SIGNAL CHARLIE
Team,
It is my sad duty to inform you that CDR Robert Scott “Rob” Murphy, USN-Ret., our Ship Integration IPT Lead, passed away today from a heart attack. Rob was an important part of our team, and his leadership and vision have set the roadmap for UAS control in the Navy. He was just as legendary for his wit and friendship and he could always be counted on for some funny remarks at a team gathering. He will be missed. In these difficult times, I would ask that you keep his wife and children in your thoughts and prayers.
I also want to commend everyone involved for their fast thinking and timely reaction. You did everything possible to get Rob the medical attention he needed. Here at Patuxent River, Chaplain Engle is on duty this weekend and can be reached at 301-247-8058 if you would like to talk to him. He can also be reached at 7-1809 or Tristan.engle@navy.mil.
We will keep you informed as we learn about the family’s plans, and I am sure that we will continue to support each other in the days ahead.
Very Respectfully,
CAPT Jeff Dodge

Commodores,
This is the latest I have regarding funeral arrangements. I’ve also attached an email Dodger, who’s as great an American as the both of you, sent to the team (didn’t get his permission to share that but will let him know in the
morning):
Rob’s memorial service will be held this Friday (4/13) at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown MD. It will be open to the public 6-8pm with prayers at 7pm. Internment will be private.
If you have any photos you’d like to share with the family (I will also include on the DVD that will be playing during the memorial), please email to rsm2018memorial@gmail.com by tomorrow night (10 April).
Please consider, in lieu of flowers, donating to NFCU Acct#3096119114, PO Box 3100, Merrifield VA 22119-3100 for the college funds of his three children. God bless. (End)
Sorry to pass that news. Rob was a true friend to many and his intellect and hilarious wit put him in a class of his own. We’re all thinking about him and his family and keeping them in our prayers.
V/R,
Dan “Booger” Bogan
