CAPTAIN DAVID WYNNE USN-RET
Captain Dave Wynne graduated from the Naval Academy in 1964 and reported to HC-4 at NAS Lakehurst, NJ after flight school. Deployments included Operation Deep Freeze on board the Coast Guard ice breaker WESTWIND and duty as the first OinC of a detachment in Vietnam waters on board MT MC KINLEY and ESTES. His first shore duty was a three year assignment at the Naval Academy where he was deep-selected for LCDR and attendance at the Armed Forces Staff College before reporting to HS-5 at NAS Quonset Pt., RI. During a second Med cruise on INDEPENDENCE Dave applied for and was selected as an Aerospace Engineering Duty Officer. This led to duty as the CFO and COO at NARF Pensacola, Maintenance and Engineering Officer for ASWWINGPAC, three years at the Convair Division of the General Dynamics Corp. in San Diego as the Program Manager’s Tech Rep for the Tomahawk Cruise Missiles Program. Next came promotion to Captain and assignment at the Naval Aviation Logistics Center at Pax River, MD and NAVAIR, followed by a command tour at the Naval Aviation Depot, Jacksonville, and his final tour as Force Material Officer at COMNAVAIRPAC where he had maintenance and engineering responsibility for 2200 Navy and Marine Corps aircraft and nine carriers. Retirement in June 1994 culminated a 30 year career and led to long term residence in Chula Vista, CA. Dave and wife Georgine have two married children and four grandchildren.
