CAPT William T. R. “Randy” Bogle, USN (Ret.)

 

Captain Bogle was born in Lautoka, Fiji Islands and graduated from the United States Naval Academy with the class of 1968.  Upon completion of flight training, he was designated a naval aviator.

As a helicopter pilot, Captain Bogle served in numerous operational and staff billets during his Navy career including establishment and command of the Navy’s first forward deployed H-46 Helicopter Combat Support Squadron, HC-5.  He subsequently served as Commanding Officer of HC-3 and Executive Officer of USS OKINAWA (LPH-3).  Shore assignments included 31st Company Officer and Flag Lieutenant to the Superintendent, United States Naval Academy; Flag Lieutenant to Commander, THIRD Fleet; completion of the Integrated Warfare Course at the Naval War College; duty at OPNAV as the V-22 Requirements Officer prior to selection as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Air Warfare); Commanding Officer, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida; 76th Commandant of Midshipmen, United States Naval Academy; and Executive Assistant to the Commander, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. 

Following retirement from the Navy, Captain Bogle joined D.P. Associates Inc. (DPA), a Veteran Owned, Small Business providing training courseware to Navy and Marine Corps aviation units.  He was promoted to Vice President for Training in April 2004 and in May 2004 DPA was purchased by L-3 Communications.  As VP for Training for L-3 DPA, he provided leadership, management and oversight of three business areas which included courseware revision and maintenance, Maritime Business Development, and Port Operations and Security Interoperability.  Following his 15-year tenure with DPA and L-3 DPA, Captain Bogle served as the Executive Director of the San Diego Military Advisory Council for three years, retiring from that position on September 30, 2018.  During this time, he also served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, the National City Chamber of Commerce, and the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation.  He was a member of the San Diego Bowl Game Association Board of Directors, a member of the FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association, and a member of the San Diego Area Eagle Scout Board of Review.  Captain Bogle is Past Chairman of the Board of the Naval Helicopter Association (NHA) and Past Vice President of the California Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).  He currently serves as an Emeritus member of the U. S. Naval Academy Foundation, Athletic and Scholarship Programs Board of Trustees.

Captain Bogle and his wife Joanie have two married sons, Jeffrey and David, and reside in New Bern, NC.
