Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 166 (VMM-166) “Sea Elk”  is  based at MCAS Miramar, CA. The “Sea Elk” were established on September 13, 1985, and have multiple missions including vertical replenishment and search and rescue. The Sea Elk fly the MV-22B Osprey, manufactured by Bell-Boeing.
